Coastal Pet Rescue is a local, award winning, family friendly, non-profit organization which helps the community to prevent abuse to animals by rescuing them from endangering situations and finding them permanent homes. CoDE feels strongly about their cause, and is excited tell you about The Animal Rescue Site $100,000 Shelter & Challenge. Together with Petfinder the Animal Rescue Site is awarding $100,000 in grants to eligible Petfinder.com member rescue organizations to help animals.

Lisa here is a wonderful friend, but also a caring, passionate and driven individual who does so much for the homeless and abused pets here in the Coastal Savannah area. Times have been rough in this economy and donations aren’t up to par and Coastal Pet Rescue can really use this WIN to put towards vet bills, spays/neuters and finding homeless pets long term loving homes and families that will love them. A Dog’s Purpose. (From the view of a 6 year old)

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn’t do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker ’s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on… Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion… We sat together for a while after Belker’s Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, ”I know why.”

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I’d never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live.

He said,”People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?” The Six-year-old continued,

”Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”

We were just talking with a friend about a popular YouTube video by David Carroll of a song he wrote about his guitar being broken by United Airlines. When she first visited the site there had only been 100,000 viewers or so, but by time she returned the next day – there were millions!

Viral marketing is also known as word of mouth or rather “click of the mouse” marketing. With the popularity of many social networking outlets such as YouTube, facebook, Stumble Upon and Twitter there is a trend of website visitors who share with their network of friends and contacts, interesting or funny videos, photos and websites.

Of course, many internet users upon hearing the term “Viral Marketing” shiver, reach for the hand sanitizer and check to see if their anti-virus program is updated. Of course, viral marketing is not bad like a virus but is capable of spreading like a virus.

All it takes is one friend to share your website photo, video or great deal of the month with at least two others, then they each share it with at least 2 others each and before you know it…
